AMECEA: Gaba Publications Launches 2019 Calendars to Increase Institution’s Visibility
In a bid to publicize itself and make known to the masses the existence of its important activities and services to the people of God in AMECEA Region and beyond, the AMECEA Gaba Publication has printed and launched calendars for the year 2019.
Being sold at the Institution, which is located in Eldoret town and can also be sent via post office to anybody interested upon making requests, the A2 Size calendars printed in full color on a glossy paper are being sold for KSh. 200, an equivalent of two US Dollars.
Dr. Simon Kangethe, Director of CUEA Gaba Campus describes the calendars as the documented records which will serve as point of reference for the year to come.
According to Rev. Dr. Jordan Nyenyembe, Coordinator of AMECEA Gaba Publications – CUEA Press, the initiative was inspired upon discovering that many people including students of Gaba Campus who are not under the AMECEA Pastoral Institute program are ignorant about Gaba publications.
“An idea came to me when a student from the Gaba Campus challenged me when I asked him, ‘Where Gaba Publications is.’ He responded by saying that he did not know, and much less did he know of the existence of the Publications,” Fr. Nyenyembe said, adding that he was touched by the honest response of the student on the apparent ignorance about Gaba Publications.
“I came to the realization that we have not publicized ourselves much; we have not made ourselves visible and accessible to the general public; and worst of all to the departments within the institution itself.”
Taking the challenge serious, Fr. Nyenyembe initiated a meeting with the editorial team of Gaba Publications purposely to find ways of promoting the visibility of Gaba Publications, and so the idea of printing calendars was hatched.
“We have come up with these calendars of 2019 to market our Gaba Publications, but also to let the entire Catholic University of Eastern Africa be known for what it does and its different activities.”
According to Fr Nyenyembe, the AMECEA Gaba Publications exists because it is supported by the local church, so some events of the local church (within the Eldoret Diocese where Gaba is situated) have been captured in the maiden edition and the trend will continue. Activities of the different departments at the institution have also been captured in the calendar and will be key during subsequent productions. Not to forget the fact that the Institution is greatly supported by the AMECEA Bishops, some of the general activities of the Bishops will be communicated to the general public through the calendar.
