Sedruack Enzama a student from Makerere University has been elected as new National Coordinator; while Immaculate Drazuru from Kyambogo University is the Vice National Coordinator. Enzama replaces Moses Ojok, a student at Makerere University.

The new executive members were elected during the Movement’s 35th National Council Meeting, which was held from 26th to 28th August, 2018 at the Uganda Spiritual Formation Centre, Namugongo.

Others office bearers elected on the council include Chricent Akugizibwe from Makerere Business School, as National General Secretary; Solomon Obong from Central University as Treasurer; and Mark Ndyamuheebwa from Makerere University as publicity secretary.

In his speech, Enzama promised to continue from where his predecessor has stopped, working for the interests of the Movement.

“I am incredibly honoured to be elected as the new leader of UYCS Movement and I regard it as a privilege. My priority as a leader is to help shape a Movement that provides real opportunity for the students across Uganda, now and for future generations. I hope that we can all work together amicably to achieve this goal,” Enzama said.

Meanwhile, the outgoing National Coordinator congratulated his successor saying, “I have trust in the new executive and I believe they will take the Movement to the next level. I pledge my support for them.”

Secretary General of the Uganda Episcopal Conference, Msgr. John Baptist Kauta, who was chief guest, encouraged members of the movement to have a personal encounter with God, who he said would help them to attain their aspirations.

The event attracted hundreds of students from different institutions in the country.

UYCS is a Catholic movement which is run and owned by the students with an aim of making a student’s world a better and happier place to live in both spiritually and materially, as well as to help them bring out positive change in the society.

In Uganda, the YCS was founded by a Belgian Priest, Rev. Fr. Albert Fleskens at St. Mary’s College in Kisubi, then later spread to the whole country. UYCS is present in all the 19 Dioceses in the country.
