Participants of the youth rally held in Mansa Diocese

Young people from Malawi, Zimbabwe and Zambia have attended a youth rally in Mansa Diocese, aimed at sensitizing them on the Bishops’ Synod which takes place in Rome from 3-28 October, 2018.

The National Youth Coordinator for Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops (ZCCB) who is also the Provincial Youth Coordinator for Salesian Sisters, Sr. Chanda Nsofwa, FMA, and Youth Delegate for Zambia, Malawi, Zimbabwe and Namibia Province Fr. Christopher Kunda, SDB confirmed the development.

Testifying to the event, two youth leaders who attended the rally added that 800 young people gathered in Mansa under the theme, ‘Young People, Faith and Vocational Discernment’ from 28th August to 3rd September, 2018.

“The Youth Rally, which was organized by the Salesian family attracted many young people from Zambia, Malawi and Zimbabwe, and it has truly sensitized us on the upcoming Bishops’ Synod,” they said.

During the event the youths were given an opportunity to express themselves, and to ask questions on the theme of the Bishops’ Assembly. And central to this gathering were moments of prayer, which were well spaced out in the course of each day. There was also a youth pilgrimage to the Cathedral of the Diocese, and an outing to Lake Bangweulu in Samfya District where there was celebration of the closing Mass.
