TANZANIA: Work together to Protect Human Life and Dignity, says Bishop Mkude

Bishop Telesphor Mkude of Morogoro Diocese has asked Government Leaders, Civil Society groups and Religious institutions to work together in protecting life and restrain from all behaviors that go against human dignity.

Bishop Mkude was delivering 2018 Easter message on behalf of Tanzania Episcopal Conference (TEC) on which he wanted everybody to be transformed by the Easter message and work for peace that can only be obtained through dialogue.

“When Jesus rose from the dead, he appeared to his disciples, a sign of showing his concern and His responsibility to them. In Old Testament God asked Cain about his brother Abel showing us that we are responsible of protecting our neighbors,” he said adding that in the recent days there are reports of some bad news about people disappearing, some being found dead, others are being injured, children being abducted and defiled and many more.

“We Bishops cannot keep quiet because it is our responsibility to speak out to protect human life. Everybody has the obligation of protecting other people’s lives, protecting the dignity of human person whether he is living or dead,” he said.

The Bishop also warned against anyone who thinks that his life or dignity is superior to that of his or her neighbor’s stating that, the world should be better place for living; a place where people enjoy the freedom from threats, worries, humiliation, intimidation and the like.

He urged the members of the society to protect each other, defend the weak and vulnerable members of the society.

“Our society has many troubles including unemployment and corruption, but we should know that there is no worship without sacrifice, Politics without Law and Joy without Conscience,” he said.

Bishop Mkude urged the people to be guided by the Spirit of Christ in order to maintain love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, kindness, faithfulness, gentleness and modesty.

“Let this Easter transform our lives, make us live new life with the Risen Christ,” he said.
