ZAMBIA: Zambia Catholic University offers Certificate course in Sustainable Agri-Prenuership.
Zambia Catholic University with support from Missio-USA is now offering an Accelerated Agriculture Initiative Program (AIP) Certificate course in Sustainable Agri-prenuership.
Speaking during the launch of the program on 16th, October, 2017 in Lusaka, Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops (ZCCB) Director for Education, Rt. Rev. Charles Kasonde described the development as a huge milestone in the history of Zambia Catholic University and hoped that it will be sustained.
Bishop Kasonde also noted that the University needs to partner with organisations of known reputation like Missio-USA, in order to grow and expand its influence in the education of Zambian citizens, with hopes that, the program should translate into skills that would multiply fruits, repeated bumper harvest and well managed profit making firms run by the Church.
In a speech read on his behalf by Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries Deputy Director Dr. Christine Yambayamba at the same function, Livestock and Fisheries Minister Michael Katambo said that, agriculture has taken a key sector in government policy and intervention.
Katambo announced that, to ensure economic stability and growth, government has strategized to develop a sustainable diversified and competitive agriculture sector in line with the 7th National Development Plan.
In another development, the Teaching Service Commission of Zambia (TSCZ) has lauded the Catholic Church for complimenting government efforts in uplifting the education standards.
Commission Chairperson, Stanley M’hango said the Catholic Church is an all-weather partner in ensuring that educational standards are enhanced for learners in the province adding that, the benefits enjoyed are from the colossal sums of money that both government and the Church is pumping in the sector.
He said this when he addressed District Education Board Secretaries (DEBS) drawn from all the 16 districts of Western province and lecturers from Mongu Diocese Catholic College of Education recently.
