Eternal World Television Network (EWTN) Africa Regional Coordinator George Wirnkar has commended the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB) through Waumini Communications Office for the great work of evangelization through the establishment of community radios across the dioceses.

In an Interview with Waumini News Today, Wirnkar who toured the Catholic Radio Projects across the Country to ascertain progress said, he was pleased to listen to local radios broadcasting different programs including prayers like the rosary.

“I had a very pleasant trip, I witnessed the work the Bishops are doing through the communications office and how they are touching the lives of people across the dioceses. As we drove across the country, each time we were going to a diocese, I could hear a Catholic Radio speaking in vernacular, praying the rosary especially during this month of October,” he said.

Winkar said EWTN is committed to support the Catholic Radios and the Local Church to be closer to their faithful, to be more meaningful in the kind of programs that they air and the topics that they discuss so as to be very stable instruments of evangelization.

He sent a message of encouragement and gratitude to the bishops. “Wherever I visited, I was met well by the bishops and I was able to share with them. I am grateful about the support that we are giving in terms of helping spread the network, open radio stations and even in terms of programing” he said.

Winkar encouraged the Bishops whom he said, are very pleased with EWTN’s collaboration, to continue with the great work of evangelization promising that, EWTN would always be by their side whenever possible.

He also said that, the Communications Office has a great team lead by the outgoing Waumini Communications Managing Director David Omwoyo and hoped that the Bishops will find a very suitable replacement for him. David has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Media Council of Kenya and has so far taken up his new role. However, he is still available for consultations as the Bishops source for a new office bearer.
