ETHIOPIA: Walk the Talk, Bishop Tells Pastoral Coordinators
The Chairperson of AMECEA Pastoral Department, Rt. Rev. Philip Anyolo, has commended the national pastoral coordinators from the region for being proactive and promoting solidarity in response to merging challenges in the region.
Speaking during a three-day workshop held at Catholic Bishops Conference Centre of Ethiopia-Addis Ababa (CBCCE) from 7th to 9th March, 2017, the Bishop urged the participants to propose comprehensive guidelines on the roles and duties of the Pastoral Coordinator and reflect on the impact of the Apostolic Exhortation “Amoris Laetitia” (Joy of Love- an exhortation on family written by Pope Francis), on the Church in the AMECEA region.
“May I request you to walk the talk of what we have agreed here and help others to do the same,” He said while calling upon the members to implement the benefits they had derived from the workshop.
He also encouraged the pastoral coordinators to be proactive in ensuring that they do not miss Regional meetings and events. “Such fora provide us with an opportunity to interact and learn from each other,” said Bishop Anyolo.
The Bishop said that the meetings provide a fertile ground for members to deepen and strengthen their relationships and keep the fire burning even when they go back to their respective conferences.
The workshop which brought together 14 participants from eight Conferences of the AMECEA region namely; Ethiopia, Eritrea, Kenya, Malawi, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia was facilitated by staff from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa with funding from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB).
