TANZANIA: The Archbishop of Mwanza praises the government’s efforts to combat corruption

“We have to recognize the good leadership of our national
leaders in restoring ethics, integrity and the rule law”, said Most Rev.
Juda Thadeus Ruwaichi, Archbishop of Mwanza (Tanzania) in an interview with the
Daily News in which he expressed appreciation for the measures taken by the
government to fight corruption in politics and in society.
Archbishop Ruwaichi said he supports all actions taken by the
leadership of the so-called “Fifth phase government”. The “Fifth
phase government ” intends to give value to local resources to make less
use of foreign donations, increasing industrial production, rural
electrification and distribution of social services, in particular educational
ones.
A central part of the economic development plans of the Tanzanian
government is made up of the fight against corruption and the establishment of
ethical rules to which both servants of the State, entrepreneurs and workers in
the private sector must follow.
Thanks to the efforts undertaken in recent years the Tanzanian GDP
has increased by 7% a year.
