Tanzanian Episcopal Conference (TEC) is mourning the death of Rt.
Rev. Matthew Shija, Bishop Emeritus of Kahama Diocese who died 9th Dec
2015. He was buried on Wednesday 17th Dec 2015 at the Cathedral of
St. Charles Lwanga Kahama.

The Requiem Mass was led by the Archbishop of Tabora; Most Rev.
Paul Ruzoka, while funeral rite was led by the President of TEC Rt. Rev Tarcisius
Ngalalekumtwa, Bishop Iringa.

Born on 17th April 1924 in Tabora, Bishop Shija was ordained a
Priest in January 1954. He was appointed Bishop of Kahama on 11th November 1983
and ordained Bishop on 26th February 1984. He retired on 24th April 2001 having
reached the Age limit as described by the Code of Canon Law.
