Fr. Stephen Okello, is a priest of the Consolata Missionaries and
a Philosophy Lecturer at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA). He
is the one who has been charged with the responsibility of coordinating Pope
Francis’ visit secretariat. This is not the first time Fr. Okello as is
popularly known is involved in such a preparation.
Fr. Okello played a leading role in Pope St. John Paul II visit to
Kenya in 1995. Exactly 20 years later, the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops
(KCCB) has given him another chance to coordinate Pope Francis visit to Kenya.
He acknowledges that a lot has changed in a span of twenty years
making the coordination of this papal visit more complicated. Even then, he
takes the responsibility with a lot of humility and courage and is doing his
level best to coordinate a team that is working to ensure that His Holiness
Pope Francis Visit is not just a success but an opportunity of Grace and
Evangelization for the Millions of Catholics and Non Catholics who look forward
to seeing the Holy Father in Kenya.
