TANZANIA: ‘Keep your Vows for the Sanctity of the World’ –Cardinal Pengo tells Religious

H.E. Polycarp Cardinal Pengo
Archbishop of the Catholic Archdiocese
Dar es Salaam, H.E. Polycarp Cardinal Pengo has urged the religious men and
women to stand strong and keep their vows for the sanctification of the world.
Cardinal Pengo was speaking this recently
during the Religious Profession for the first vows celebration of the Sisters
of our Lady of Mount Carmel in Vikindu, Dar es Salaam.
He said Religious men and women have an
important part to play in the sanctification of the world today, especially at
this time when human beings have lost that sense of the fear of God.
“You are aware that God is sending
you to be at the service of, not only of the Church but the whole world.
In this there should be no delay and no hesitation. Do as God had commanded you
to do,” he said.
He urged the religious women and men to remain strong and serious
with their vocation. “Use your charism, prayers and your deeds to change the
world to be a better place to live,” he said.
Cardinal also asked the faithful to pray for the religious and for
the success of their mission, so that the world, which is full of violence, may
be converted and change for the better.  “The world needs people like you,
(religious men and women), who stand before God on behalf of the people who often attach themselves with
worldly things without having concern with the Kingdom of God,” he said.
The event was attended by many priests
and religious men and women from the Archdiocese of Dare Salaam and beyond.
