ZAMBIA: AMECEA Trains Top ZEC Management

Association of Member Episcopal Conference in Eastern Africa
(AMECEA) has conducted a leadership and management training for top Zambia
Episcopal Conference (ZEC) management in Lusaka.
Zambia Episcopal Conference (ZEC) Secretary General Father
Cleophas Lungu who opened the training workshop said the development shows how
AMECEA is relevant to the Church in Zambian.
Father Lungu also said the training that attracted 50 participants
from all 11 Catholic Dioceses in Zambia was a great opportunity to share best
practices in terms of management of personnel, structures and resources.
The workshop which was held at Kasisi Retreat Center began on 31st
August and ends on 5th September, 2015.
AMECEA deputy Secretary General Father Chrisantus Ndaga noted that
the training highlighted on Leadership and Management, Youth ministry and
chaplaincy, Information Communications and Planning and project management.
He also said that the training was being conducted by the Catholic
University and AMECEA shall has a session on planning and methods of
fundraising.
Other key benefits of this Capacity Building program which is
supported by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) includes
supporting the Catholic Bishops in capacity building to establish and maintain
an effective, diverse and motivated workforce at diocesan level to ensure
excellence in support of the region’s pastoral outreach by empowering all the
parts of the region.
Father Ndaga further said that the outcome of the training is
expected to be a strengthened professionalism, in leadership and communication
skills. The training is also supposed to create some kind of uniformity in the
management of Institutions and affairs of the Church Institutions within the
region as well as pooling of resources for income generating projects.
Father Ndaga also announced that modalities are underway for a
possibility to hold a similar training in Eritrea where VISA challenges still
exist.
