ZAMBIA: Government commends the work of the Catholic Church

The Muchinga
province Minister His Excellency Mwimba Malama has commended the Catholic
Church works in the education, social and health sectors calling other Churches
to emulate the example set by the Catholic Church by partnering with the
Government in offering services to the public. 
Speaking
during a luncheon hosted on Saturday 22nd August, 2015 in honor of
the newly ordained Priest of Mpika diocese Fr. Deogratius Mbita Sikwazwe, the
Minister pledged that his government will continue working with the church as
partners in development.
Speaking at
the same event the Archbishop of Kasama and the Apostolic Administrator of  Mpika said called on the Christian community
in the area to support the newly ordained priest and help him to grow in his
faith.
Meanwhile, Zambia’s Copperbelt University
School of Medicine dean Professor Kasonde Bowa has commended the Catholic
Church in Zambia for the initiative of guiding young people in their career
choices.
Professor
Bowa said that the more information young people have in making career choice,
the better the chance they have in knowing what is lying ahead and puts them at
an advantage in choosing suitable careers.
Addressing
the youth at an event dubbed “Meet The Professionals” organized by
the Cathedral of Christ the King youths in Ndola Diocese, Prof Bowa said the
shortage of doctors in Zambia call for investment and training of more young
people with a passion for the career.
Professor
Bowa said Zambia is in need of more doctors and young people must utilize the
opportunity by studying medicine. He however cautioned that being a doctor is
not an easy job as it calls for discipline and patience.
Prof Bowa
further challenged young people willing to take up the medical profession to be
bold and take part in helping the nation in coming up with a sustainable health
sector.
