KENYA: Catholic finance officials trained on governance and finance management

More than 60
finance administrators, accountants and human resource personnel from 25
dioceses in Kenya have received training on governance, finance and human
resource management.
The training
organized by Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops-KCCB Human Resource office in
collaboration with the Commission for Finance took place at Rosa Mystica
spiritual centre, Nairobi from 24th to 28th August 2015.
The topics
covered included, legal, audit and security issues affecting the dioceses,
human resources and institutional policies, Labour and financial challenges
facing the dioceses were also discussed in order to find amicable solutions for
them.
Speaking
during the closing ceremony on 27th, August, 2015, KCCB General
Secretary Very Rev. Fr. Daniel Rono urged the trainees to make use of the new
knowledge acquired by implementing them, involving key stakeholders in decision
making process and to set up human resource offices in the dioceses that lack
one.
Fr. Rono
also advised the participants to ensure that they get copies of the Kenyan law
in order to get acquainted with the acts on land for better understanding and
compliance with the requirements, to embrace technology especially for the
I-tax to enable them file tax returns online and also to seek advice from the
national office from time to time.
While
thanking the Archdioceses and Dioceses for turning up for the training, he also
advised them to develop strategic plans in their respective dioceses in order
to plan better for the future.
