SOUTH SUDAN: Catholic Bishop tells Aid Agencies not to forget the development initiative of the People

Catholic Bishop Emeritus Rt Rev Paride Taban on Tuesday in Juba appealed to aid
agencies not to forget development initiative of the people of South Sudan.
Bishop Taban
explained that some areas of the country are relatively stable and could be
supported with development initiatives. He stressed on the need to promote
agriculture in peaceful areas and that improving communication infrastructures
can help resolve food insecurity in the rest of the country.
He
emphasized that part of the population needs humanitarian support, listing some
limitations of emergency aid. He mentioned strategies such as “food for work”
as a better way to help the country overcome its challenges and promote
citizens’ responsibility to their families and also help other people in need.
Meanwhile Juba citizens applaud martyrs
for gift of independence as South Sudanese marked the Martyrs Day on Thursday
30th July in Juba. They appreciated heroes, heroines and all martyrs
who sacrificed their lives during the liberation struggle for the gift
independence of the country.
