SOUTH SUDAN: SCBC Secretariat Compound Invaded by Thugs

Sudan Catholic Bishops’
Conference or SCBC Secretariat in Juba on Thursday, 18th, 2015 was
raided by armed buglers who were dressed in military uniform.
 
According to the Catholic
Radio Network (CRN) the burglars drove in the compound in two vehicles, broke
part of the fence and started hunting for security guards.
 
SCBC lost several items worth
thousands of South Sudanese Pounds. These include seven laptop computers and cash.
 
The incidence has also affected
the operation of CRN which is also housed at the same compound.
 
Meanwhile, the National Legislative Assembly
of South Sudan has endorsed a Standard Gauge Railway Protocol for the country. The
Protocol caters for provision of alternative oil transportation through
Northern Corridor that includes Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda and South Sudan.
 
The Assembly added adoption
of this Protocol means creating employment opportunities for South Sudanese. The
Northern Corridor cooperation partners share the cost of operation and
maintenance of the railway regional enterprise.
 
The protocol seeks to address
infrastructure, energy, trade and regional integration in the Northern Corridor
linking to the Great Lakes region via Kenyan seaports.
