AMECEA Office realized that, the Catholic journalist can play
crucial role in enhancing Church’s mission of evangelization in the digital era
by being effective on the media interaction based on catholic context, setting
agenda based on the social teachings of the Catholic Church and by forming
interaction groups to connect people with the local church including small
Christian communities, hence the need for more training on online journalism.

According to one of the facilitators Paul Karanja, Catholic
Journalists should move towards creating the presence of the Catholic Church on
social media platform by coming up with quality Content and making Catholic
stories Better. “Catholic Journalists should define online journalism by
allowing navigation to create linkages with other catholic online media so as
to reach a wider audience” Karanja said.

Communication Technology (ICT) specialists Justin Njeru and Denis Ongaria also
developed an ICT policy which should be a point of reference for the
Conferences and news agencies working with AMECEA.
