ETHIOPIA: Garisa Terrorism Attack; AMECEA Chairman Sends Condolences to the People of Kenya

The Chairman of AMECEA H.E. Berhaneyesus D.
Cardinal Souraphiel, C.M., has sent his condolences to the people of Kenya for
the tragedy that took in Garissa University last week.

 
In his e-mail message to the President of
Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB) H.E 
John Cardinal Njue, Cardinal Berhaneyesus said, “It is with great sorrow
and shock that I heard the news about the inhuman killings of young University
students in Garissa University, my prayers and condolences to you and to the
families of those dear students and the other victims of the tragedy that
occurred in Garissa.”
 
Cardinal Berhaneyesus who is also the President of Catholic
Bishops Conference of Ethiopia (CBCE) also spoke to Mr. Joseph Vungo, Charge d’Affairs, of the Kenyan Embassy
in Ethiopia and offered his condolences on behalf of the Catholic Church in
Ethiopia and AMECEA. 
 
The
Cardinal said, “I cannot find any consoling word to the people of Kenya.” He
assured him that the Catholic Church in Ethiopia and AMECEA region is in
solidarity with the people of Kenya and all the bereaved family members through
prayers. 
 
In an
interview with a local media, Cardinal Berhaneyesus, C.M., said that it is time
we all need to pray for peace for that many innocents are sacrificed for no
cause. He called on the people of Ethiopia to pray to the King of peace for a
peaceful and stable Africa.
