ETHIOPIA: Cardinal Berhaneyesus Calls on the Faithful to think for Less Fortunate People of their Society

The
Archbishop of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, His Eminence Berhaneyesus D. Cardinal
Souraphiel, C.M., has called on the people of Ethiopia to think of the less
fortunate brothers and sisters around them as they prepare for the Easter
celebrations.

Easter,
according to the Ethiopian calendar of this year, will be celebrated on April 12, 2015 this
year.
 
Delivering
his message during Easter Benediction Cardinal Berhaneyesus said, “If we
support and take care of the elders, the street children, the sick and those
who are alone it will not only show that Christ is within us but also reflect
the love we have for others.”
 
“Easter is
the time to reflect on all the graces received from the Good Lord and thank
him,” he said adding that ““We as Christians must follow and imitate the
example of our Lord Jesus Christ and love all the people around us. He is our
Savior and we must take advantage of the opportunity of being saved he has
given us. If we are humble and do his will he will glorify us, we will be part
of the graces and joys of His Resurrection.”
 
Cardinal
Berhaneyesus who is also the President of CBCE called on the people of Ethiopia
to also pray for peace around the world. “Even though we are living in a
constantly changing world we must pray to the Lord to give us strength to
maintain our Faith, we must reflect the resurrection of Jesus Christ in our daily
activities, we must follow His example and try to be good Christians,” he said.
 
He also called
on the people of Ethiopia to pray for a peaceful and successful conduct of the
national election to be held on May 24, 2015.
