AMECEA: Commission for Priestly Formation holds Inaugural Meeting

AMECEA
Commission for Priestly Formation in Seminaries held an inaugural meeting on
Tuesday 3rd, March at Blessed Bakanja AMECEA College in Nairobi. The
Commission was constituted by the AMECEA 18th Plenary Assembly which
was held in Malawi in 2014 to oversee all matters pertaining to Blessed Bakanja
AMECEA College and offer advisory assistance to member conferences on matters
pertaining to priestly formation in seminaries.
Speaking to
AMECEA Online News, Fr. Ferdinand Lugonzo, Secretary General of AMECEA said
that the Tuesday meeting focused on defining terms of references and addressing
the emerging issues at Blessed Bakanja AMECEA College. Among the main issues that
were discussed included the question of staffing, urgent repairs of the structures
and financial sustainability of the College.
The meeting
which was chaired by the Commission’s Chairman H.E. John Cardinal Njue was
attended by  Rt. Rev. Benjamin Phiri, Auxiliary Bishop of Chipata
Diocese, Zambia. Most Rev. Jude Thadaeus Ruwa’ichi, O.F.M. Cap., Archbishop of
Mwanza, Tanzania was supposed to attend but sent his apologies.
The
Commission has scheduled subsequent meetings to be held annually in June. The
first annual ordinary meeting will take place in June 2015.
Blessed
Bakanja AMECEA College (BBAC) was founded in 1998 as AMECEA Regional
Theological Seminary.
