SOUTH SUDAN: Religious Leaders Re-echo their Call of Ending the War in the Country

Religious
Leaders in South Sudan repeated
their call to end the war by going deeper into the matter of current situation
for peace to prevail in the country.
Giving his
remarks during the opening of the two-day South Sudan Tribes’ Peace Conference
in Juba under the theme: “Peace now, South Sudan tribes united against war”, on
Tuesday 17 February 2015 Archbishop Paolino Lukudu Loro predicted that the
crisis would finish people if not stopped.
Muslim
representative, Juma Ali Saeed also called for a collective responsibility in
order to bring and maintain peace in the country.
The
conference attracted 65 tribes’ representatives, Governors, top national and
state leaders, religious leaders and civil society organizations to discuss
lasting solution to the current crisis.
Meanwhile, Yei Catholic Bishop Rt. Rev Erkolano
Lodu Tombe called on citizens to acknowledge their mistakes and confess them in
order to be forgiven by God so that the spirit of honesty and loyalty prevail
in the nation.
In his
Sunday homily at Christ the King Cathedral urged South Sudanese to seek God’s
help to explore better ways of ending revenge, corruption and resolving power
struggle that is claiming lives of people in the country.
Bishop Lodu
commended development partners for helping the South Sudanese, calling on
citizens to imitate them; be close to God and compassionate to the suffering people
due to injustices, abuse and corruption.
