UGANDA: Archbishop Odongo Celebrates Golden Jubilee

The
Archbishop Emeritus of Tororo, His Grace James Odongo is celebrating his
Episcopal Golden Jubilee on 21st of February 2015 at Uganda Martyrs Cathedral,
Tororo.

Information
received from Uganda said His Grace Emmanuel Obbo, Archbishop of Tororo is
extending an invitation  to everybody for
that Holy Mass that will begin  at 10.00
am.

A
congratulation message to him from AMECEA Secretary General Fr Ferdinand Lugonzo
said, “On the occasion of your Golden Jubilee as Bishop, the family of God
within the AMECEA region acknowledges with great appreciation your very
significant contribution towards the foundation and the growth of AMECEA.”

The Most Reverend James Odongo was born on 27th March 1931 at
Molo, on Tororo-Mbale road. He was ordained a priest in Rome on 22nd December1956.
Elected Titular Bishop of Baana and Auxiliary Bishop of Tororo on 25th November
1964. He was consecrated Bishop on 16th February 1965, and appointed Bishop of
Tororo on 16th August 1968. He became the First Metropolitan Archbishop of
Tororo on 2nd January 1999. On 27th June 2007 the Holy Father accepted his
resignation from the pastoral care of the Archdiocese of Tororo.

Archbishop Odongo was a chairman of AMECEA between 1973 and
1979.
