SOUTH SUDAN: SCBC Vice President Asks Bishops to Address Pastoral Issues of Concern of the Country

Catholic Bishops Conference SCBC Vice President Rt. Rev Erkulano Lodu Tombe has
called on the Diocesan Bishops and Apostolic Administrators to address issues
of common concern during their plenary meeting so that they may be able to
carry back something tangible to their dioceses.
Bishop
Erkulano Lodu Tombe was addressing the participants during the opening of the annual
plenary in
Juba on 5th November 2014; a meeting which is going to end on
November 14, 2014. He said SCBC that previous meetings
focused more on juridical aspects.
“Different
from previous meetings where we focused more on juridical aspects, this one we
should address issues in a more pastoral way,” he said.
The
plenary brought together Bishops and Apostolic Administrators of South Sudan
and Sudan to discuss various issues including the naming of the Conference to accommodate the two countries, formation of
priests, evangelization and the media as a tool of evangelization.

Secretary General Fr Jacob Odwa Paul said the President of the conference;
Cardinal Zubeir Wako is expected to join the plenary towards the end.
