ERITREA: Bishop Thomas Osman, OFM Cap. Elected AMECEA Board Member


The Catholic
Bishops of Eritrea have duly appointed Rt. Rev. Thomas Osman, OFM Cap., Bishop
of Eparchy of Barentu as Eritrean Representative to the AMECEA Executive Board.
Bishop Osman
takes over from Rt. Rev. Kidane Yebio of Keren who has been in the AMECEA
Executive Board for the last six years and whose term ended with the AMECEA 18th
Plenary Assembly.
The New board members were appointed during the Plenary Assembly
in Malawi of which Eritrea did not have a bishop representative. The board has
so far met once since the plenary Assembly; a meeting which took place in
Nairobi in on 25th to 26th September, 2014.
Rt. Rev.
Thomas Osman was born on 25th May 1950 and was ordained a priest of the Order
of Friars Minor Capuchin on 10th July, 1977. He was Appointed Bishop of Barentu
on 4th October 2001 and was ordained Bishop on 13th January 2002.
