outskirts of Chipata.

Speaking
during her tour of the Catholic Secretariat, the Governor General said “I am
impressed with the number of departments at the Catholic secretariat. This
shows that the Church is not removed from the social life of the people,” she
said.

She also
commended the Zambian Episcopal Conference (ZEC) for the establishing Women in
Governance (WIG) program. She said, “For me it’s an eye opener that the church
is also doing something in addressing women matters especially in governance.”

Dame
Pearlette Louisy was in the company of Dominican-born Cardinal Kelvin Felix the
Archbishop-Emeritus of Castries, the current Archbishop of Castries Most
Reverend Robert Rivas OP and Dr. Winston Paris, Professor Emeritus in the Department

The new
Benedictine monastery at Msupadzi in Chipata Diocese is the culmination of a
project promoted and developed jointly by the Benedictine nuns from St Lucia.
The Benedictine nuns have worked closely and tirelessly with the late Zambian
Cardinal, His Eminence Joseph Cardinal Mazombwe together with the current Auxiliary
Bishop of Chipata Diocese, Rt. Rev. Benjamin Phiri.
