UGANDA: Pope Francis Appoints a New Bishop of Moroto Diocese
On 20 February
2014, Pope Francis appointed Rev. Fr.
Damiano Giulio Guzzetti, MCCJ, an Italian Comboni Missionary as the new Bishop of the Diocese of Moroto.

Fr. Guzzetti
is taking over from His Lordship Henry Ssentongo whose retirement has been
accepted by the Holy Father.

The
Bishop-elect was born 1 July 1959 at Turate, Lombardy, Italy and ordained a priest on 23 September 1989 and
he has been a missionary for many years in the Diocese of Moroto and speaks
fluently Ngakarimojong.

He did his Theological
Studies at St. Mary’s National Major Seminary Ggaba; Kampala- Uganda and Tangaza
College, Nairobi, Kenya in 1986-1988 and 1988-1989 respectively. From 1994-2009 Fr. Guzzetti worked in various
Parishes in the Diocese of Moroto.
