TANZANIA: Caritas Launches Electricity Project in Karatu District

The Tanzania Episcopal Conference, (TEC) Caritas department has launched an
Electrification Project in collaboration with the Rural Electrification Agency
(REA) to the village of Endashang’wet in Karatu district.

 
The launch was held recently in Dar es Salaam in TEC, Caritas offices,  in which Caritas Tanzania entered into a
contract  with Njarita Company
Contractors Ltd of Dar es Salaam to distribute electricity in the village.
 
According to the Executive Secretary of Caritas Tanzania Mr . Joachim Wangabo,
who represented the Caritas and Tanzania Episcopal Conference to sign the
agreement, said that the project aims at raising the standard of living of the
villagers who are majority of them, marginalized.
 

Mr. Wangabo said the total cost of the project is USD 155 Million and that it will
help improve the water supply project funded by Caritas Australia.

 
The Company Director Mr Michael Njarita assured Caritas Tanzania that will
finish the work within the terms of the contract.
