SOUTH SUDAN: Catholic University Introduces the Faculty of Engineering in Wau Campus

Catholic University of South Sudan announced plans to introduce the faculties
of Engineering with the departments of Mining and Mineralogy by 2014, for Wau
campus.

to the Vice Chancellor Fr. Mathew Pagan the institution aims at offering
chances to South Sudanese nationals who wish to pursue their studies in various
fields. The Catholic University of South Sudan is offering degree courses in
Sciences in Wau and Arts in Juba.

Pagan urged students across the country to be self-sufficient to ensure the
availability of food and eradicate extreme poverty and hunger.He encouraged them
not to be street job seekers but to be job creators.

praised the Catholic Church for setting up a strong high learning institution
that brings hope to the country. At the same time he appreciated the efforts of the
Church to establish an institution that is contributing to fight against
illiteracy in the country.

had a special word of thanks for Bishop Rudolf Deng Majak for approving the
Catholic University while he was the President of the Sudan Catholic Bishops’
Conference and allowing the instituting to operate in the diocesan minor
seminary.
