AMECEA: Pastoral Coordinators resolved to uphold Marriage and Family Life Apostolate in the AMECEA countries

The National
Pastoral Coordinators from AMECEA Countries have resolved to promote Marriage
and Family Life Apostolate in AMECEA region.
This came as the
first priority outcome of the meeting of National Pastoral Coordinators from
AMECEA Countries held at AMECEA Secretariat in Nairobi, Kenya from 26th-27th
November 2013.
According to
AMECEA Pastoral Coordinator Fr. Febian Pikiti Mulenga the other priorities that
came from the meeting are Catholic Campus Ministry and Youth Biblical
Apostolate and the creation of Platform for Inter – Religious Dialogue in the
AMECEA Countries.
On Marriage and
Family life the pastoral coordinators resolved to implement the activities as stipulated in the Extra-ordinary Synod of the Family and Apostolic Exhortation

Evangelization


On Catholic
Campus Ministry and Youth Biblical Apostolate the coordinators resolved to strengthening
of Youth Ministry at various levels and making it a common program at various
levels in the AMECEA Countries.
On the third and
final priority of creation of Platform for Inter – Religious Dialogue in the
AMECEA Countries the coordinators saw the rising need for promotion of peaceful
co-existence, tolerance and sharing of common vision on issues affecting the
pluralistic and multi-religious society today. Thus, they have thought of
creating a platform for capacity building and educating Catholics on other religions
and how to dialogue in line with teachings of the Church.
Fr. Pikiti said that AMECEA Pastoral department was
entrusted with the responsibility of working on the proposed document that will
be shared with all the national Pastoral Coordinators who in turn will ensure
that the document reaches the dioceses.
Fr. Pikiti said
the National Pastoral Coordinators committed themselves to implement these
three Key pastoral priorities, which they deemed appropriate for period of
three years starting in the year 2014 and ending in 2016.

Apart from the
three mentioned priorities, the coordinators also discussed about cross cutting
issues that they will be including in the various pastoral programs in their
countries. Three key issues were identified and these included: Promoting the
role of the Church in the protection of the Environment; Promoting Lay
Apostolate through the Council for the Laity and Promoting the Ecclesial model
of the Church as Family built around Small Christian Communities (SCCs).
