The Chairman of the Kenya Conference of Catholic
Bishops (KCCB) John Cardinal Njue has called on the Government to strengthen
the intelligence service so as to be able to detect sinister motives in order
to curb criminal acts before they are executed.

Cardinal Njue encouraged Kenyans not to lose hope
but to remain focussed in safe guarding their own identity and dignity and to
work together for the benefit and well being of the nation in order to prepare
a meaningful heritage to the future generation.

During his visit to MP Shah and Agha Khan Hospitals
where most of the Westgate Terror attack victims were receiving treatment on 24th
September 2013, Cardinal Njue prayed for the sick and wished them quick
recovery and also expressed his gratitude to the Doctors, Nurses and personnel
at the hospitals for tireless commitment to save lives.

He conveyed condolences of Kenyan Bishops (KCCB) to
the bereaved families with assurance that the Church was close to them in
prayers at this moment of grief.

However, the Cardinal condemned the act of terror
saying it was a big tragedy which is disappointing and discouraging, though he
was happythat a rapid security response had been taken by the Government
through the security officers
