AMECEA: EXECUTIVE BOARD holds the First Meeting
The AMECEA Executive Board has begun its mandate of three years by holding the first meeting which came to a close today at the AMECEA Secretariat, in Nairobi, Kenya.
Chaired by Most Rev Tarcisio Ziyaye the AMECEA Chairman, the Executive Board Members were able to deliberate on the resolutions made during the 17th AMECEA plenary ended in July 2011 and then planned for their implementations.
At the end of the meeting the Board elected Bishops heads of various departments of AMECEA.
The following Members were elected:
1) Rt. Rev. Emmanuel Obbo from the Diocese of Soroti in Uganda is the new Vice Chairman of AMECEA Executive Board. He takes over from Rt. Rev Philip Sulumeti from the Diocese of Kakamega in Kenya.
2) Rt. Rev. Martin Mtumbuka from the Diocese of Karonga in Malawi is the new Chairman for Justice and Peace Department. He takes over from the Late Rt. Rev. Paul Duffy from the Diocese of Mongu, Zambia.
3) Rt. Rev. Charles Kasonde from the Diocese of Solwezi, Zambia is the new Chairman for Social Communications. He takes over from Rt. Rev. Emmanuel Obbo from the Diocese of Soroti, Uganda. Rt. Rev. Emmanuel is now the Vice Chairman of the AMECEA Executive Board.
4) Rt. Rev. Isaac Amani from the Diocese of Moshi Tanzania is the new Chairman of Staffing Committee. He takes over from Rt. Rev. Joseph Mukasa Zuza from the Diocese of Mzuzu, Malawi.
5) Rt. Rev. Philip Sulumeti from the Diocese of Kakamega in Kenya, the immediate former Vice Chairman of the AMECEA Executive Board is the new Vice Chairman for Staffing Committee. He takes over from Rt. Rev. Isaac Amani from the Diocese of Moshi, Tanzania, who is now the chairman of the same Staffing Committee.
6) Rt. Rev. Kidane Yebio from Eparchy of Keren in Eritrea has retained his position as the Chairman for Pastoral Department after being re-elected.
The AMECEA Departmental heads elections are held after every three years.
Speaking at the closing of the meeting the AMECEA Chairman thanked the member for attending this first meeting and wished the newly elected heads of departments a success in their service as they continue to journey together as a family of God. He also expressed immense gratitude to the former heads of departments for their service to the AMECEA region.
