MALAWI: Local Musicians Partner With The Church Spreading World Mission Sunday Messages

As the World Mission Sunday draw closer different sectors of the Catholic Church in Malawi are leaving no stone unturned in disseminating information about the day which this year falls on Sunday October 18.
As the Church propagates for inclusive efforts in relaying messages through various means, musicians are taking a leading role.
First it was a renowned priest cum musician Reverend father Jean Marie of Comboni Missionaries who released a Chichewa song titled “ndilipo, tumeni”, another great art has hit the airwaves, this is a song from children of the same family from Chigwirizano in Lilongwe who have come together and compose a song and pass message through their song which is titled “here I am send me”.
Speaking in an exclusive interview on Radio Maria Malawi Thursday September 17, leader of the group, a 24 year old Evalista Eluby Mbewe said they felt obliged to partake in passing the message of this year’s Mission Sunday by releasing a track.
According to her, most youths in country like music and they saw it ideal to use the same to reach out to many youths across the country and beyond.
Commenting on the same, National Youth Chaplain at the Episcopal Conference of Malawi (ECM), Reverend Father Valarian Tseka urged youths in the country to make use of this year’s Mission Sunday to change their mindset and start responding to God’s call just like Prophet Isaiah (on chapter 6 verse 8) who without hesitation responded “here I am send me”.
He further commended the musicians in the country particularly the 4 children for their contribution towards the Church mission.
According to the National PMS director Father Vincent Mwakhwawa, this year’s national event for World Mission Sunday will be held at St. Vincent Palloti Kaphatika Parish in the Archdiocese of Lilongwe.
