SOUTH SUDAN: AMECEA Stresses Need for more Bishops in South Sudan

The Chairman of the Association of Member Episcopal Conferences of Eastern Africa (AMECEA) Cardinal Berhaneyesus Souraphiel has stressed the need for appointment of more bishops to fill the vacant positions in various dioceses in South Sudan

Speaking during the ongoing the South Sudanese bishops’ conference in Juba that seeks to address the current pastoral situation in the country, Cardinal Souraphiel said addition of new bishops will enhance further evangelization and guidance of the flock of God in the young Country.

The Catholic prelate came to show solidarity of AMECEA to South Sudan and pray with the Sudan Catholic Bishops’ Conference in their ongoing plenary. They promised that AMECEA is ready to offer capacity building to South Sudanese in various fields of their respective educational institutions.
