TANZANIA: Fight against abductions, sexual harassment cases, Bishop urges

Following a prevalence of abductions, torture, killings, and sexual harassments cases in the country, a call has been made for the public to respect the human dignity, strengthening family formation and live word of God.

The call was made by The Catholic Bishop of Moshi Diocese, His Lordship Isaac Amani, in his Easter Mass homily. He noted with concern that many civilians live in constant fear of being abducted or sexually harassed including women being raped. 8 policemen were recently killed on the spot when they were attacked while coming from work. He was sad, that there were expressions of joy at the killings. “This shows the signs of lack of love among the people in the country. Things which threaten our peace and unity are in our thoughts. Crime begins in our minds and is ultimately put into practice  “said Bishop Amani.

He pointed out at the loss of morals in society, saying that excessive acts of superstition, fear, self-hatred, and dirty politics set defect to a nation that has existed in peace for a long time. This he said is caused by the actions of alcohol and drug abuse, loss of plans and goals in life and thus wastage of time for unproductive things. He explained that human trafficking, rape and sodomy cases has taken the nation in the dark era. “These are acts of shame which are said to be associated with globalization, alcoholism and superstition.
