SOUTH SUDAN: Christians and Muslims jointly receive the body of Bishop Rudolf Deng in Wau

Thousands of people, Christians and Muslims flocked at the airport in Wau on 23 March to receive the body of Rt Rev Rudolf Deng Majak- the Catholic Bishop of Wau who passed away two weeks ago in Germany

Among the people present at the Airport included the Apostolic Administrator of Malakal Diocese, Msgr Roko Taban Musa and other top government officials. After the airport ceremony, the procession started from there to St Mary Cathedral of the Diocese of Wau.

on 22 March the body of the late Catholic Bishop Deng arrived in Juba at 3:30 PM from Germany and was taken to Saint Theresa’s Cathedral for requiem mass followed by overnight prayers at the church.

The Apostolic Nuncio to South Sudan, Most Rev Charles Daniel Balvo, was among the Dignitaries who received the body at Juba International Airport.

The burial of the late Bishop is expected to take place at Saint Mary Cathedral.
