Prefect for the Congregation of Evangelisation of People at the Vatican, His Eminence Fernando Cardinal Filoni has urged Catholics in the country to remain vigilant and avoid religious syncretism that may dilute the authentic truth taught by Jesus Christ.

Speaking during the opening of the bi- annual national Catholic Forum at Kapingila House in Lusaka on 9th November, 2016, Cardinal Filoni said that there is need to note that the centre of the Christian faith is Jesus Christ and Holy trinity.

“We are a Church that emerged of the Holy Trinity; in the Trinity there is communion among the Father, the Son and the Holy spirit; The centre of our faith is Jesus Christ who manifested the true face of God and became human to redeem us;” he said.

He further said that since the divinity of Christ was shared among us is a reason why Christian faith cannot be mixed with any other form of syncretism.

Cardinal Filoni who was in Zambia for his Pastoral Visit thanked the ancient missionaries for planting the seed of faith in the country.

He also celebrated thanking giving mass for the 125 years of Catholicism in Zambia at the Cathedral of Child Jesus in Lusaka.

Cardinal Filoni who arrived in Zambia from Malawi on the 7th of November, 2016 left on 10th November, 2016.
