MALAWI: Apostolic Nuncio joins Catholic Bishops in discussion of pertinent issues of the Country

The Apostolic Nuncio to Malawi and Zambia, His Excellency Archbishop Julio Murat has joined the Malawi Catholic Bishops in their second plenary on which, among many issues they discussed on the challenges posed by religious extremism.

According to the Press Statement released by Rev Fr. Dr. Henry Saindi, the ECM Secretary General, on Tuesday this week the Bishops also expected to assess the activities of the conference on the Year of Mercy and reflect on Pastoral implications of the post-synod document, Amoris Laetitia (The joy of love).

They projected also to discuss matters pertaining to priestly formation in the Seminaries, receive update reports from the Catholic University of Malawi (CUNIMA), evaluate the socio-political and economic situation especially famine problem and look at some possible interventions.

“The killing of Albinos which is a very big concern of the Bishops was expected to be an agenda for discussions, before they receive progress reports from the Association of Women in Religious life in Malawi, Association of Men Religious in Malawi and Association of Diocesan Clergy of Malawi,” reads part of the statement.
