AMECEA: CUEA Signs MoU with Braeburn Schools

Tuesday, 28th June 2016 saw the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) and Braeburn Schools. This partnership seeks to ensure that students from the Faculty of Education also get a chance to learn how to teach in International Schools.

braeburn-mouProf. Mbae, the Vice Chancellor, in his speech said that the MoU is beneficial to the University, as it will go a long way ensuring that its students are empowered. He also said that through this partnership, new doors will be opened for the students hence turning them into global citizens as their thinking is broadened.

The Group Managing Director – Braeburn Schools, Mr. Rob Williams, said that about 20 years ago his institution noticed that graduate teachers had good theoretical knowledge but they lacked the practical skills to deal with the nature of international schools. This prompted his institution to start this course. Through this program, he said, the attitude of the trainees is changed positively and they become broadminded.

Jeniffer Gatecha Kaumbulu, the Group Training Manager- Braeburn Schools, explained that the course in International Education, which was developed by them, equips the trainees with practical skills and exposure that is fit for the international market.

The Dean Faculty of Education, Sr. Dr. Jacinta Adhiambo, said that a lot has been realized from the collaboration of the two institutions, which has been on for a year but based on mutual trust. She also stated her hope that the implementation opens more doors.

The partnership between CUEA and Braeburn Schools began a year ago but is now formalized courtesy of this Memorandum of Understanding.
