TANZANIA: TEC mourns the death of Rt. Rev Matthias Isuja Joseph, Bishop Emeritus of Dodoma

Tanzania Episcopal Conference (TEC) mourns the passing away of Rt.
Rev. Matthias Isuja Joseph, Bishop Emeritus of Dodoma. Bishop Isuja passed on
at St. Gaspar Referral and Teaching Hospital, a facility run by the Society of
the Precious Blood Catholic Missionaries situated at Itigi town in central
Tanzania on Tuesday night of this week.
Sending his condolences to the TEC President, Rt Rev. Tarcisius Ngalalekumtwa;

Magufuli said that he has received with great sadness the news about the death
of Bishop Mathias Isuja.  
“Bishop
Emeritus Mathias Isuja was a true patriot, the lovely person of the people, who
did a great job to build the nation spiritually and physically,” he said adding
that “We cannot forget his commitment and contribution to the nation in the
provision of education, health and social services especially in the upbringing
of the orphans,” he said.
Born on August 14 1929 he was ordained a Priest of Dodoma on 24th
December, 1960, appointed Bishop of Dodoma on 26th June 1972 and was
ordained Bishop on 17th September, 1972.
He retired as Bishop of Dodoma on 15th January 2005
upon reaching the age limit. Bishop Isuja will be buried on 20th
April 2016 in Dodoma
