TANZANIA: TEC mourns the death of Bishop Raymund Mwanyika

Episcopal Conference (TEC) is grieving over the death of Rt. Rev. Raymund
Mwanyika, Bishop emeritus of the Diocese of Njombe, Tanzania.

Information
received from the President of the Tanzania Episcopal Conference (TEC) Rt.
Reverend Tarcisius Ngalalekumtwa via TEC Communication department said Bishop
Mwanyika passed away on Thursday 24th October 2013 at Bishop’s Residence in
Njombe due to heart attack.

The
late Bishop Mwanyika was born in 1930 at Uwemba Njombe, and Ordained Priest on
11th October, 1959. He was appointed first indigenous Bishop of Njombe on 16th
January, 1971.  In April 25th of the same
year he was Consecrated and installed Bishop of Njombe Diocese. He retired in
the service as bishop of Njombe on June 8th, 2002 and died on 24th October,
2013.

The
funeral of Bishop Mwanyika will be at St. Joseph Cathedral Njombe on Tuesday
29th, 2013 after the Holy Mass which is due to take place at 9:00am.
