KENYA: KCCB conducts a Seminar on Liturgy

The Liturgical
Commission of the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishop (KCCB) conducted a
seminar on liturgy in order to adhere with the changes found in the New Missal.
The four-day’s seminar
which was held from 20th to 23rd August 2013 at Carmelite Retreat Centre in
Nairobi was attended by two representatives (priests and nuns) from all the
dioceses in Kenya and was chaired by the KCCB Chairman for Commission for
Liturgy Bishop Dominic Kimengich assisted by Sr. Damian Kasoo of Precious Blood
Sisters who is in charge of Cannon Law Office at the secretariat.
Speaking during the
workshop, Bishop Dominic urged Catholic faithful from all the Dioceses to
follow the rubrics especially in Holly Mass and the celebration of Sacraments.
Bishop Kimengich
singled out some elements of abuses like too much dancing during Holy Mass
celebrations, playing CD players during mass instead of singing and other
practices which make Holy Mass an entertainment arena instead of a worship
service.
The workshop was an
effort by the Liturgical Commission to bring harmony in the liturgical
celebrations and to communicate new liturgical updates from Rome.
