SUDAN: SCBC Plenary kicks off in Khartoum

Sudan Catholic Bishops’
Conference SCBC plenary started on Wednesday 21st August, 2013 in
Khartoum to discuss affairs of the Catholic Church in South Sudan and Sudan.
SCBC week plenary is an
annual programme where bishops meet wherever they choose to discuss pastoral
and administrative issues.
The auxiliary bishop of
the Catholic Archdiocese of Juba Santo Loku Pio who left Juba on 20th August to participate in the meeting said all bishops in the two countries will
discuss the future of the national major seminary, Bakhita Radio reported.
He explained that the
bishops will also discuss the future of the SCBS Secretariat and bishops’
pastoral responsibilities in running church’s affairs.
Bishop Loku said the
plenary will look into pastoral concerns of bishops on national institutions.
He explained that the
bishops will also talk on the needs of the dioceses that lost their bishops and
see how they will respond to faithful in the vacant dioceses.
Bishop Loku passed his condolence
to the family of the two brothers who were shot death on Sunday night.
He urged Interior and
National Security ministries to work hard and end the alarming insecurity in
the town.
