KENYA: Do not rush to amend the constitution, Bishop advises Kenyans.

Kenyans have been urged not to rush
to amend the current constitution; the Vice Chairman of the Kenya Conference of
Catholic Bishops (KCCB), Bishop Philip Anyolo said in an exclusive interview
with Rose Achiego of Waumini Communications Ltd.
The Bishop advised Kenyans to be
patient with the current constitution, saying that it is only after the full implementations
that Kenyans will be able recognize the existing gaps in the document, and make
the necessary amendments.
Bishop Anyolo also called upon the
Government to be just and fair, in executing its mandate, and for Kenyans to
support the Government.
The Coalition for Reforms and
Democracy (CORD) has been pushing for an overhaul of the constitution to have a
parliamentary system of Government rather than the current presidential system,
and to increase revenue allocation to counties to 40 percent of the national
budget.
