AMECEA: AMECEA Secretariat Bid Farewell to its Long Serving Accountant

Sr. Maria Deogratias Nyakato
AMECEA Secretariat on 29th June 2013 bid farewell to its long serving accountant Sr. Maria Deogratias Nyakato. Sr. Deo as she is fondly known by her colleagues at the secretariat is a nun from the congregation of Teresian Sisters from Bukoba Diocese in Tanzania. She has been the accountant at AMECEA Secretariat for the last eleven years.
During the quiet farewell ceremony that was held in her honor at AMECEA Secretariat in Nairobi, members of staff expressed their gratitude to Sr. Deo for being who she was; a person who knew how to work well with others; she never had any clashes with anyone and her work was always well organized.
The AMECEA Secretary General Fr. Ferdinand Lugonzo on behalf of the AMECEA Chairman, His Grace Archbishop Tarcisio Ziyaye and on his own behalf expressed immense gratitude to Sr. Deo for the services she delivered to the secretariat for the last eleven years. “I have come to know Sr. Deo as someone who knows how to work well under pressure and is always very organized. Her office is very sensitive and has a lot of pressure yet she never loses her cool. When things are not in order, she knows how to use the right approach when dealing with anybody,” Fr. Ferdinand said.
Sr. Deo was appointed to work at the Secretariat in 2002 and has been the longest serving member of staff. “I can say that I have worked with different priests, nuns and the laity who have been at the secretariat under different capacities. When I came Fr. Mromore was the Secretary General. He was succeeded by Monsignor Rua who was succeeded by Monsignor Rutechura and finally Fr. Ferdinand, the current Secretary General,” she explained adding that she always consider every appointment by her superiors an apostolate or ministry that contributes to the mission of our Lord Jesus Christ.
She thanked her Mother Superior for the appointment to come and work at AMECEA and also for the support she continued to receive from her as well as members of her congregation. She also thanked the Chairman of AMECEA and through him all the AMECEA Bishops for giving her opportunity to serve them and support her in her work.
Her gratitude also goes to all members of staff at AMECEA Secretariat for good collaboration and support she has received from them. She said that she is ready for her next appointment and is ready to serve our Lord in any capacity.
We at AMECEA Secretariat wish her well in her endeavors.
